The Virtuous Orchid (A Drink Under Clear Skies) - Sake Glass, Shot Glass

This glass art piece of a sumptuous Chinese wineglass is one of four in LIULIs sake glass series titled “A Drink under Clear Skies.”  The collection is inspired by the classical Chinese literature’s “Four Gentlemen” motif, in which flowers (or plants) represent the seasons of the year.  In “Virtuous Orchid,” the pure bliss of spring is characteristically revealed through its long blades of grass and flower petals dancing in the wind.  This image is sculpted in low relief on the crystal piece here, standing out verdantly with the effulgent blends of green used.  In “Under Clear Skies,” the glasswork juxtaposes these feelings with the act of drinking and paying homage to the seasons.
