Collection: Formless, but Not Without Form (Artist's Edition)

Loretta H. Yang’s "Formless, but Not Without Form" series explores the ruminations on Buddhism that are always at the center of Loretta’s art and her own life, as well. Liuli is a vehicle for Loretta to explore Buddhist philosophy, gathering inspiration from Buddhist ideas like enlightenment, transparency and non-attachment set forth in texts such as the Diamond Sutra. Though Loretta's work brings to bear a uniquely Eastern approach to crystal art, it has struck a universal note. During the exhibition at the Grand Palais in 2015, the Ateliers d'Art de France commented: "The collection exude a meditative philosophy that captures the Parisian way of life yet is an uncommon component in contemporary French art.” In 2016, “Formless, but Not Without Form” became Musee des Arts Decoratifs’ first acquisition of Chinese liuli art in its century-old history.
