A passage in the I-Ching states: “the law of life and nature is ‘I’, the change”. For Chinese, the “I” in the passage represents our observation and assessment of change and the state of understanding our inner selves. I-Ching, also called the Book of Change, guides the Chinese people to harmonize with the nature and to remain calm when faced with change. It is a reflection of the ancient Chinese view of the universe in Taoism. For example, traditional feng shui asserts that if your windows and doors open to the sharp edges of your neighbor’s eaves, it will generate unrest. This unrest will breed caution and doubt. This lack of goodwill between your fellow man will then lead to aggravation and irritability. From a modern perspective, feng shui is more than physics, landscaping, environmental meteorology, aesthetics or even psychology. Qi, the Chinese notion of life force or energy, is perpetual. “Qi is summoned by the power of nature” is in fact an expression of life wisdom of the Chinese people. Originating from the idea of qi, LIULIGONGFANG utilizes the natural flow of LIULI and common Chinese metaphors from nature to express a philosophy of the natural world. It suggests a shared knowledge existing between people in their everyday lives and we hope to encourage people to draw strength from nature. Comply with nature and answer to humanity; qi rising for harmony. |
