Crystal Buddha, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Let Virtue Fill the Land
The Collection: Ksitigarbha Buddha Design Concept: An artwork that at once seems both pensive and hopeful, “Let Virtue fill the Land” tells the story of an utterly altruistic bodhisattva. It is a story of sacrifice and compassion. According to legend, the saint sculpted here—Ksitigarbha—sacrificed the attainment of enlightenment in the vow to help those who suffer. The piece’s brooding colors reflect the many troubles of the world, while a radiant light shines behind the saint beckoning to find peace and wisdom. Carrying the bodhisattva is a fearsome lion, guarding those under his protection against what adversities may come. This piece suggests a spirit of resilience and finding hope in dark times, and it depicts one who has sacrificed everything to help others find that hope |
